Grand Knights Learning Center

  • As the chief officer of each council, the Grand Knight is charged with the responsibility of observing the laws of the Order in his council. In addition, the Grand Knight is also the chosen leader of his council, and as such, he is expected to give it the leadership needed. The office of Grand Knight is one that is rich in opportunities for service in many fields, and the purpose of this section is to assist him in realizing these opportunities.

  • When Fr. Michael McGivney explained his vision of a new Catholic fraternal organization to the 29 men of his St. Marys Parish in New Haven, Connecticut, he stressed the principle of charity and service that the men could provide to the church, and to their community. In addition to the creating the needed survival benefits to their families, he instilled in our first brother knights the need to put their Catholic faith into action. And in doing so, he encouraged them to be shining examples of Christ’s command to be the “Light of the World”. In Matthew’s Gospel Chapter V, verses 14 - 16, Christ instructs all of us to “Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

    State Deputy’s Spotlight on…….Fraternal Survey’s - One of the criteria for the Star Council Award is Service Programs. The only way that Supreme Council can tabulate all our charitable dollars and service is by using the Form #1728 (Fraternal Survey), which is also a mandatory report for the Star Council Award. We are asking all Grand Knights to ensure your Fraternal Surveys are submitted by this coming January 31, 2014. Your District Deputy has been asked to assist your Council in anyway, to meet this deadline. You will likely read more about our charitable fundraisers and service projects in this issue of the “Lighthouse”. Let’s continue to be the Light of Ohio in all our charitable donations and service. And I wish everyone a very Prosperous and Blessed New Year! Be the LIGHT! Ken Girt State Deputy ;
